Traveling safely

As we age, moving around gets harder and harder. At the same time, staying mobile is important, if not essential, for your physical and mental health. Find out our tips for your travels.

Tickets and passes

Senior rate

From the legal age of retirement (64 for women and 65 for men), passengers can benefit from the OASI fare for ticket and card purchases and the Senior fare for travel pass purchases. The OASI/Senior fare is only valid for unireso "Tout Genève" Zone 10 tickets.

Financial support in the municipalities

Some municipalities support the mobility of their senior citizens by offering a subsidy to be used when purchasing a unireso pass or a Léman Pass. Check the list of offers to see if your community takes part as well!

Boarding

At the stop

For your safety and comfort, before boarding our vehicles, we recommend that you:

  • position yourself at the head of the stop in order to board using the first or second door (you can position yourself with the orange sticker at the edge of the sidewalk, which indicates where the front of the vehicle stops). By doing so, you can attract the driver's attention.
  • use the blue button. When activated, the driver ensures that the door is clear before manually closing it.

On board the vehicle

When faced with heavy traffic, our drivers are sometimes forced to brake suddenly to avoid an accident. To avoid bad falls, we recommend that you:

  • hold on to the bars while moving. Even for a short trip or if the vehicle is momentarily stopped, hold onto the bars or handles.
  • sit close to the driver. There are special spaces marked with a pictogram for people with reduced mobility at the front of the vehicle. Moreover, our regulations stipulate that all seats must be given up, especially to senior citizens. If no one gives up their seat, it may be due to a lack of attention from other travelers. If you ask politely, most likely they will gladly get up and give you their seat.
  • remain seated until the vehicle is stopped. Many buttons allow you to request a stop from the seats, so wait until the vehicle is stopped to get up and get off. Thanks to the blue button and sitting next to the driver, you won't miss your stop!

Free companion service

You can also use the Mobility for all support service. This is a free companion service (apart from the cost of the transport ticket), available from Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (except for public holidays). Reserve 48 hours in advance at 022 328 11 11, Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
