To cope with a shortage of driving staff due to absences that have exceeded expectations for several months, tpg is forced to temporarily withdraw certain reinforcement trips scheduled during peak hours, Monday to Friday, on about ten urban lines as of 31 October 2022. Trams, regional lines, school and night runs are not impacted. The measure will be reassessed in mid-December.

Due to the high rate of driving staff absences since the beginning of summer, as of Monday, 31 October 2022, the lines

will experience a reduction of approximately 3% of their usual offer from Monday to Friday, during peak hours only.

So far, tpg have made up for the shortage of staff by randomly canceling morning and evening routes on a case-by-case basis for operational reasons, by calling on volunteer drivers during their holidays and by postponing scheduled training courses in order to release staff. Measures that may have made it possible to provide a service that is superior to what was possible but are not sustainable over time, particularly because of the uncertainty they generate for customers and the resulting additional workload for staff. Therefore, following in-depth analyses, a slight reduction in the offer was the most appropriate solution.

The measure will be reassessed in mid-December. If the situation among the driving staff improves, canceled trips may be reintroduced before this date.
