A little history

The Salève cable car is a historical landmark. Even before its creation, the first transport to go up to Salève from 1893 was the cogwheel train.

It was in 1932 that the cable project was born, lasting until 1940. It ceased its total operation in 1975.

By a Franco-Swiss political agenda, the rebirth of the cable car took place in 1984. In 2017, the Téléphérique celebrates its 2 millionth trip in 10 years, the year the GLCT Téléphérique du Salève was created.
