A little history

Designed by Jacques-Elisée Goss on a drawing by Henri Sylvestre, the Grand Théâtre de Genève opened in 1879, in a Beaux-Arts and Second Empire style building, with a horseshoe-shaped auditorium.

Following a fire in 1951, the Grand Théâtre was hastily restored before being modernized in 1997 and again in 2006.

After a long period of work between 2016 and 2019, the Grand Théâtre welcomes you with a new architectural and heritage renovation.
